Who actually runs the Democrat Party in the US? Do you know? I wish I did. For the sake of argument let's say that the DNC runs it. (the Democratic National Committee.) They are at a critical time right now. Let's pretend to be a highly paid political consultant, hired by the DNC to help their side. What would your advice be right now?
My advice would be to pull the plug on the Ukraine debacle and instruct their minions in the corporate media to simply ignore the topic from now until the election. Is this even practical? I used to think it wasn't.
But nobody talks about the Afghanistan debacle anymore. Nobody talks about the destruction of the Nordstream pipeline. Old news becomes ignored remarkably quickly. If news about Ukraine disappeared suddenly, it would leave quite a vacuum. But there is always something to fill the vacuum.
Start with the obvious: another indictment of Trump. The DNC's job is to move the news over to the right "lead story." Some other possibilities:
1. A climate lockdown in reaction to a summer heat wave in July or August 2024. The weakness in this option will result from people's common sense: there have always been summer heat waves, and they will suspect that the regime's corporate media is just exaggerating.
2. A new virus pandemic. They must be careful to use a fresh new word. Don't talk about a variant of Covid. Too many people remember the Covid lockdown with resentment and suspicion. And that memory is too fresh and toxic.
The strength of Options 1 and 2 is that they lend themselves to emergency lockdowns, cancelling careers, and "temporary emergency" censorship. The average American will support the censorship, if it is marketed as "SAFETY."
The DNC will have to think harder. What about:
3. A lethal encounter between a white policeman and a black drug addict. The weakness of this approach is that it will sound like a replay. A new technique can only work if it stays new. A stand-up comedian can't repeat a joke too soon to the same audience, no matter how well it worked the first time. A general in the army can't use the same military trick twice.
4. A mass shooting that turns out to be caused by a white supremacist organization, which is claimed to have a vast, well-funded conspiratorial organization according to "senior government officials."
To make matters worse for the DNC, they will be fighting a war on "two fronts", that is, against Trump and RFK Jr. How will the DNC explain canceling debates during the Democratic primaries? Will they cancel the primaries, as well? The DNC will really earn its paycheck if it can come up with something new that has all the magical qualities.
What if "senior government officials" detect a possible incipient genocide against the LGBQT+ community on a small Caribbean island, by a dictator (the "next Hitler") with "far right" support. The crisis would lend itself to a successful invasion by the indispensable nation, with the greatest military ever. During the slaughter, the island gets in the way of a hurricane in August 2024. Now there is a complete humanitarian crisis, caused by the Far Right and Climate Change.
In that steamy island climate, and with public water supplies contaminated, it would be a great place for the next virus or killer bacteria to emerge: one unlike any ever seen before, perhaps capable of causing deaths on the scale of the Bubonic Plague. As if that isn't enough, unnamed senior officials announce that they have significant information about talks between the Caribbean island's dictator and Putin about basing Russian hypersonic missiles on the island.
