It is hard to know how much schadenfreude was felt around the world yesterday. Washington DC has become virtually a rogue government, always at war somewhere, always bombing some weak country with its high-tech weapons, while hypocritically preaching democracy and human rights.
And it was humiliated by low-budget religious fanatics out of the Middle Ages. If the Taliban were a more sympathetic group, there might have been dancing in the streets around the world.
I wonder if this will reduce bloodshed around the world, or whether the world will get even more dangerous. When a champion boxer loses his title, he starts dreaming of making a comeback. Will Washington DC do this?
It might become more selective about its future victims. It needs to "win" for a change in order to reclaim some of its lost prestige.

Washington DC should not take on a large country like Iran. Iraq has already been destroyed, so there won't be any glory in bombing rubble. Yemen? No thanks, too many fanatics hiding in the mountains, and what does that remind you of?
Fighting just outside the borders of Israel might be a good choice. Lebanon perhaps. The Israelis are capable of providing an incident. It will be reported in the American media as fact. If you ask for evidence, you are just a conspiracy kook or an anti-Semite.
The victims can flee into Syria. Israel will get more land or resources. And Rapture Christians in the American Bible Belt will be charged up.

Venezuela has oil what does Lebanon have that we want? There is also the opportunity to take Bolivia at the same time which has a lot of lithium.
However, if the U.S. military doesn't change their approach to fighting a war I don't think they can take either of those countries,
