A "First" for a Seasonal Migration

OK I admit it: I'm a bit sad to leave Yuma tomorrow. That's probably a "first" during 15 years as a full time RVer. If a place is worth going to, it is worth staying at -- until something goes wrong. Usually the weather becomes uncomfortable, or you've used up your time limit, or you've acquired a noisy neighbor. It's fun to leave when you really want to leave. Otherwise you are just wasting money on frivolous sightseeing -- the thing that some internet-wit or other called "channel surfing with gasoline."

Don't think that I've gone soft  in the head. Yuma itself is not interesting. But I hope to long remember how pleasant it was to get back into club road bicycling. The moral of the story is to stay flexible when "lifestyling".

Once again the upward and northward migration starts. Once again I yearn for some way to start a loose caravan or club of outdoorsy RV campers -- as opposed to mainstream, sedentary, portable suburbanites. Nothing will probably happen until somebody else joins minds with me. My friend Mark, of Box Canyon blog, is probably correct in recommending that I stay flexible if there is to be any chance of success.

And by being "flexible" I mean having the willingness/out-of-comfortzoneness to meet up with Bobbie and I and other friends a few times a year in places you've sworn at, and off, because of some imagined difficulty or obstacle. They can be worked around if you are "flexible."
See you in Virgin, Utah, in November? Us in the RV Resort... you nearby on fabulous BLM ground chock full of biking and hiking and wash wandering.

But it must have won me a few flexibility "points" to respond so quickly to a summons from Ouray last July and take part in the hiking!

Because of you, we are going to give Yuma another try next winter. We plan to work our way to CA when we leave south TX in a few weeks. Maybe our paths will cross and we can do some hiking. If not, take Mark up on his invitation and join us in Utah in November! We'll be taking the "luxury" accommodations at the RV park. Too cold for us Floridians without electric that time of year.
Uh-oh. That means I'll take the rap if it doesn't work out for you? (grin)

"too cold for us Floridians without electric" ? Want some juicy gossip? It might be too cold for some "tough" Colorado campers too! I was shocked to walk into their motorhome the other morning and find it heated to 80 F. (I was embarrassed for their sakes.)

Oh. I see. My comment has to be 'approved'???? Whatever casino parking lot boy. Whatever.
It looked like an interesting area, but not so easy to camp at. So I'm exploiting you guys as the guinea pigs. (Pretty clever. Grin.)
